Four SHS teachers have welcomed a goldendoodle puppy into their families over the past few years, all from the same breeder–What’sUpDoods, located in Tuolumne, Ca. Most recently, Mrs. Kerns and Ms. Bennett welcomed mini goldendoodles from the same litter, just last week.

“I had originally heard that there was a local goldendoodle breeder in Tuolumne and was immediately intrigued. A couple of years ago, Ms. Hallinan shared that she was getting a puppy from Michaela Schallhorn [of What’sUpDoods], and I knew I would eventually think seriously about getting one,” shared Mrs. Kerns.

Mrs. Kerns contacted What’sUpDoods in early December to inquire about the latest litter of puppies they had—ten mini goldendoodle puppies were born, six blue merle puppies and four with black and tan coloring, on Dec. 6.

“I reached out to express interest—I was particularly interested in the blue merle puppies and liked the fact that they are a bit on the smaller side. Naturally, I then shared my interest with Ms. Hallinan and Ms. Bennett,” stated Mrs. Kerns.

Ms. Bennett had recently been thinking about adding a puppy into her family as well, and the timing ended up working out well. Ms. Bennett and Mrs. Kerns welcomed Paisley and Georgia, respectively, home on Jan. 20.

Both Ms. Bennett and Mrs. Kerns shared how they both think having sibling puppies is a really fun experience.

“We got to share in the excitement and anticipation together, and now that they are here, we also get to commiserate together. The highs and lows! I really forgot how hard a brand new puppy is. We are both so tired,” said Mrs. Kerns.

While from a different litter, Ms. Alomia also got her puppy from What’sUpDoods, she particularly loves how she does not have to vacuum up dog hair anymore, referencing the fact that goldendoodles are hypoallergenic and rarely shed.

Both Ms. Bennett and Mrs. Kerns have had their puppies for almost a week now, while Ms. Alomia has had her dog, Carl, since before Halloween.

Ms. Alomia shared what her thoughts on her experience with What’sUpDoods.

“She really seems to care about her dogs having good lives and healthy puppies,” commented Ms. Alomia.

All three teachers love how the puppies are really gentle with their young children and that their kids have so much fun with the dogs.

“My daughter Olive and [Carl] wrestle all the time and he is really gentle with her,” shared Ms. Alomia.

Mrs. Kerns also shared that her dog has been good with her children as well.

“My kids love her, they chase her around and tire her out and then she naps. It’s great,” Mrs. Kerns stated.

All teachers said they all would go back to Michaela Schallhorn with What’sUpDoods because of their positive experiences.

“I saw signs on the side of the road, and then met her and she seems to take really good care of her dogs and I got to geek out on the dogs genetics, so we ended up getting Carl!” stated Ms. Alomia.

Mrs. Kerns shared that Michaela was (and still is) great at communicating about the puppies and allowed visits with Georgia before she was ready to come home.

“We got to visit with Georgia a few times before she was able to come home. That was a treat. Michaela was great to work with overall. She understood this was a big decision for our family and was with us every step of the way,” shared Mrs. Kerns.

Ms. Bennett also commented on her positive experience with What’sUpDoods.

“I had a great experience and love that she is located in Tuolumne,” shared Ms. Bennett.
