ASB’s Winter Formal and Spirit Rally Recap

Winter Formal: Rally

Summerville High had its annual Winter Formal last Sat. 20, 2024, to hype up the Bear Community, SHS’s rally commissioner’s Jameson Baldwin and Mrs. Soto and multiple others planned a rally for everyone to enjoy.
Last Wednesday during flex the rally was held in the gym. The school did multiple games including: Guess that 80’s song, soccer, and shooting hoops. Mrs. Soto tells Beyond the Cave what the rally was for.
“The rally was a spirit rally for the Winter Formal week,” noted Mrs. Soto.
During the rally, there were several boys hyping up the Bears. Head rally commissioner Jameson Baldwin shares his thoughts of playing a big role in the rally.
“I love it, it’s a super fun thing to do, it got me really good really quick at public speaking because that’s always a helpful tool,” stated Baldwin.
For most people public speaking can be really difficult, and if we didn’t have someone like Baldwin, the rallies wouldn’t be the same.
During the winter rally many people participated, but not everybody was there. Beyond the Cave asked for Baldwin’s opinion of what he would’ve changed about the rally.
“I was really bummed that a few kids had to be in Acadec things and some kids had to do some english things in Mrs. Kerns class and you know at the end of the day it had to happen but if I could have the whole school there it would’ve been that much more fun,” noted Baldwin.
To make the rallies happen, the rally commissioners put in the work to get everything put together. It takes many weeks for this to happen.
“It depends on the rally and what we are doing for the rally. Some rallies take weeks, winter wishes takes at least a month.” said Mrs. Soto.
When setting up the rally and getting ready for everyone to come in Baldwin likes to collaborate with his fellow commissioners.
“My favorite part of making the rally is the collaboration with my fellow rally commissioners. So last year you know I got to learn a lot from Kayden and work with Kayden and this year I get to start teaching and working with Tyler,” Baldwin stated.
Making these rallies available to happen takes a lot of hard work and dedication for the Bear’s community to get excited for the upcoming event.
Beyond the Cave thanks all the people for making these rallies happen. It’s a great way for everyone to come together.
